Three vital ingredients make up the ethos of Energy Coast University Technical College (ECUTC): Employer Engagement, Project-Based Learning, and a Technical and Academic Combination. We aim to build a school which is geared towards Students and their success, built upon Achievement, Care and Excellence (ACE) principles together with Nurture and Enterprise.
Mission
Our University Technical College (UTC) will provide an outstanding, enterprising education for students, grounded in traditional values, striving for first-class, technically focused pathways, combined with academic success at its core. Designed in association with employers our courses are tailored to provide industry-leading skills and education in Construction, Energy and Engineering technologies.
Our courses are delivered through the application of our values/principles of mutual respect, supportive pastoral care and inspirational teaching to happy, inquisitive students. We strive to help every student to identify their unique talent, for the benefit of all. This is supported through our insistence on the highest standards in all that we do.

We celebrate the success of every student and we are proud both of the outstanding (GCSE and A-level, BTEC, T level, and other) results achieved to date, with 90% of our students taking up apprenticeships leading to incredible destinations. They reflect not only the commitment of our students but also the expertise and dedication of our staff. ECUTC is about much more than academic results, but we know how important they are in enabling every student to access whichever route they choose beyond school.

At ECUTC, learning extends far beyond the classroom. Our curriculum embraces a full enrichment programme including enterprise, careers, digital skills, and healthy lifestyles. Students benefit from a wide range of trips, visits, and opportunities, as well as practical support for families, that strengthens our whole community. It is this which gets our students through our door and provides a solid foundation for successful lives.
Our belief that education should be inspiring and that the UTC should be a place where students enjoy learning and staff enjoy teaching, remains front and centre of everything we do. Our wonderful building is purpose-built for 21st-century teaching and learning, but it is what goes on inside our building which truly sets us apart. ECUTC continues to unleash potential; we are constantly striving to improve, to innovate and deliver an education that truly prepares students to achieve more than they first thought possible by creating exceptional opportunities which enable successful lives.
