ATTENDANCE AT THE UTC

Students Feeling Unwell During the School Day

Students who feel unwell must go and see their Head of Year (or a first aider if their Head of Year is not available), who will assess them and contact parents/carers if necessary. Students should not contact parents/carers themselves without going to their Head of Year/a first aider first.

Reporting an Absence

In the event that your child is absent from college, we require notification before 8:30 am. Please call 01900 606446 and leave the student’s name, the reason for absence, and your relationship to the student. We require a phone call each day of the absence to keep us updated.

Punctuality

Morning registration begins at 8:30 am. Any students arriving at college after this time will be required to sign in and will be marked as late.

Medical Appointments

Medical appointments should be made outside of the college day where possible. If this is unavoidable and appointments must be made during the college day we expect students to be present in college before and after the appointment. We cannot authorise a full day absence for a medical appointment unless absolutely necessary e.g. travelling long distance for the appointment, operation etc. We require notification prior to any appointment and evidence should be provided e.g. hospital letter or appointment card. Year 10 and 11 students are required to be signed out by parents at reception, for Year 12 and 13 students we require confirmation from parent/carer of the appointment but they may sign themselves out.
